Notes: I found this decaying tree stump in the Royal Botanical Gardens near McMaster University. I used a slide montage technique where one picture was out of focus and the other one in sharp focus. This creates the 'halo' effect you see. It also causes some Newtonian rings to appear at the top of the frame. I felt these artifacts fit with the picture and so I decided to keep them. Looking at this picture, the memories of the mid-summer's mosquitoes buzzing around my head while I took the picture seems quite distant.
